Day 2. This is the beginning.

Ok. This is the beginning. In 9 months time I dream that I will be able to write that I have completed the London Marathon. I also hope that the photo of myself that I post that day will be slim, lithe and fit. That, however is not the aim. My aim is to fulfill my dream. To run the London Marathon.

I am under no illusions as to how hard this is going to be. I have never been an "athlete". My self confidence wavers between average and non-existent. But, if I don't attempt this I will never forgive myself. I have applied for the last 5 years, to the ballot, and have never got a place. This year, my 6th application, I will be given a place. That is the rule as I understand it.

If I do this I will be amazed and proud. I am going to run for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in memory of Sally and Jonnie. I can do this.I will do it for them and for me.

Good luck on your journey, I completed this years marathon after entering the same way (6th time lucky) and it was an amazing experience.

You'll have some tough times training but it will all be worth while when you cross that finish line, the sense of accomplishment was like no other.

I look forward to reading about your training :)

If I can do it, you certainly can. Just stay positive and don't give up. And don't try to do too much too soon. Pace yourself. If you want to read a blog of someone like you who was never an athlete but worked hard and made it, go here:
